Todd Bowles on Vita Vea: We're not concerned at this point
Defensive tackle Vita Vea remains off the field at Buccaneers training camp and head coach Todd Bowles said on Tuesday that he remains unworried about where things stand. forumteam.blog
Vea is looking for a new contract and he requested a trade as camp got underway, but there's been no reports of progress toward either outcome over the last week. That suggests Vea won't be taking part in any on-field work in the near future and Bowles told reporters that the situation won't become urgent for a while.
"Again, it’s still early," Bowles said in a press conference. "We’ve only been in pads for two days. We’re not concerned at this point and I think those things take care of themselves. Once you get past two or three preseason games, you start to worry a little bit."
Bowles said Vea has been "very engaged" despite his impasse with the organization, but a finish line remains somewhere over the horizon in Tampa.

Jadeveon Clowney officially signed with the Houston Texans, revealing he had better financial offers from other teams but chose to return to the team that selected him first overall in the 2014 NFL draft. The 33-year-old veteran stated he's in Houston "to win a championship" with his original team.
Clowney noted he's a different person now than when he arrived as a 21-year-old rookie, hoping to impart wisdom on younger players. He was touched by the reception he received from Houston fans during training camp practice, calling it "a great feeling after all these years to come back."
