Wisconsin volleyball unveils 2026 nonconference schedule, Big Ten opponents
Wisconsin volleyball has announced the finishing touches on a daunting 2026 nonconference schedule.
The Badgers will finish their nonconference slate at home against Marquette on Sept. 17 and UW-Milwaukee on Sept. 18, the team announced on May 4.
That follows eight already-announced matches against a gauntlet that includes each of the other three Final Four teams from 2025 – Kentucky, Pittsburgh and Texas A&M – along with Louisville, Stanford, Florida, Auburn and Texas. cricket-ipl.in
Eight of UW's 10 nonconference opponents appeared in the 2025 NCAA tournament. UW coach Kelly Sheffield said that he "had problems saying no" with a laugh.
"When we're getting the phone call and people are asking if we want to be a part of something, and it's with the best traditional powers of our sport, yeah, it's going to be rare for us to turn that down," Sheffield said ahead of men's basketball coach Greg Gard's Garding Against Cancer event.
Wisconsin also will hold an alumni match on Aug. 8 and an exhibition on Aug. 15.
UW also unveiled which Big Ten teams it will play at home or on the road. Now with 17 regular-season matches instead of 20, the Badgers will play each conference foe once before heading to the inaugural Big Ten Tournament.
Big Ten home opponents include Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Oregon, Penn State and Washington. Big Ten away opponents include Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio State, Purdue, Rutgers, UCLA and USC.
The schedule release follows an increase in ticket prices ranging from 6% to 42% for assigned sections at the UW Field House. General admission tickets increased by $1 per ticket per seat, but the overall cost decreased slightly due to having one fewer home match.

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. and long-time girlfriend Olivia Carter tied the knot over the weekend, and based on the videos shared by Penix's teammates, everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves at the wedding ceremony.
Penix and Carter announced their engagement in December of 2024, and officially got married on Saturday, May 2. Several of Penix's teammates, including Kyle Pitts, Bijan Robinson, Drake London, Jessie Bates, Ryan Neuzil, Storm Norton and Jake Matthews, showed up to see Atlanta's QB tie the knot.
Pitts posted a video of Penix and his wife dancing, while others shared clips and photos from the reception on social media. Watch Penix and the rest celebrate on the dance floor below.

Penix was moving pretty well on the dance floor, which is a good sign for the third-year quarterback's recovery from ACL surgery. He's expected to be ready for the start of training camp.
The 25-year-old has some competition this year and will have to battle veteran Tua Tagovailoa for the starting QB job in 2026. Penix, no stranger to adversity, appears to be up for the challenge.
We wouldn't bet against the former top-10 pick.

Chelsea's Champions League hopes dashed after defeat

Manchester City and Everton have confirmed their starting lineups for tonight’s match
Manchester City and Everton have confirmed their starting lineups ahead of tonight’s Premier League fixture at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. The situation is simple for Pep Guardiola’s side tonight. They simply must pick up three points to keep pace with Arsenal. Mikel Arteta’s side has moved six points clear of City at the top of the Premier League table. They also have a four-goal better goal difference than City. No matter how tonight’s game unfolds, City must win in their first game at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
You do sense that if City drop points tonight, Arsenal may have an advantage that they won’t surrender in the title race. City take on an Everton side that are tough to beat under David Moyes. Tonight’s match will be no walk in the park for Manchester City.
Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias will miss tonight’s match for Manchester City due to injury. Pep Guardiola shared on Friday that the pair are making progress in their recovery from injury. However, neither player is available for tonight’s match.
The biggest injury issue for Manchester City entering tonight’s match surrounds Rodri. Manchester City’s midfield general has missed his team’s past two matches due to the calf injury he sustained against Arsenal over a fortnight ago. It also wasn’t immediately clear if Rodri trained with his teammates over the weekend which means he is in doubt for tonight’s match.

Pep Guardiola has made a raft of changes to the starting lineup that beat Southampton in the FA Cup semi-final last weekend. In comes Gianluigi Donnarumma, Abdukodir Khusanov, Marc Guehi, Nico O’Reilly, Bernardo Silva, Antoine Semenyo, Jeremy Doku and Erling Haaland. James Trafford, Nathan Ake, John Stones, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Tijjani Reijnders, Mateo Kovacic, Phil Foden, and Omar Marmoush drop to the bench for tonight’s match.
Rodri isn’t included in the Manchester City matchday squad. It remains to be seen when Rodri will return to action.

Everton
Packers agree to sign QB Tyrod Taylor
With Malik Willis off to the Dolphins, the Packers have brought in a new veteran backup quarterback.
Per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Green Bay is signing quarterback Tyrod Taylor.
Taylor, 36, spent the last two seasons with the Jets. He appeared in six games with four starts in 2025, completing 59.7 percent of his passes for 779 yards with five touchdowns and five interceptions. He also rushed for 143 yards with one TD.
Green Bay’s backup position has been important over the last two years, with starter Jordan Love missing a pair of starts in each 2024 and 2025. Taylor fits the bill of an experienced backup, having appeared in 100 games with 62 starts since entering the league as a sixth-round picking 2011.
Taylor’s signing presumably puts five quarterbacks on Green Bay’s roster, pending any other moves. Aside from Love and Taylor, the club has Desmond Ridder, Kyle McCord, and Kyron Drones.
