Ismaila Sarr wins Crystal Palace Player of the Month for March
Senegalese winger Ismaïla Sarr continues to shine with Crystal Palace after he scooped Player of the month award following his superb showing for the Premier League club.
Sarr’s goal against Tottenham on March 5, during the 29th matchday of the Premier League, where he scored twice, was also voted goal of the month, contributing to his team’s 3-1 victory.
In excellent form for several weeks, Sarr also shone in the Conference League against AEK Larnaca on March 19th, scoring twice to help Crystal Palace secure a 2-1 win and qualification.
Sarr also scooped goal of the month award
During the March international break, the two-time African champion also found the net for the Senegalese national team against Peru on March 28 at the Stade de France. Crystal Palace currently sit 14th in the Premier League.
Sarr made his debut for Palace as an 84th-minute substitute for Chris Richards in their opening match of the 2024-25 Premier League season, a 2-1 loss at Brentford on 18 August.
He scored his first goal for the club in a 4-0 EFL Cup win over Norwich City; the goal, initially attributed to Eberechi Eze, was awarded to Sarr a week later.
His first league goal for the Eagles came in a 2-2 draw at Aston Villa. After scoring in the fourth minute, he went on to record an assist for Justin Devenny in first-half stoppage time.
Bordeaux confirm worst fears over Bok centre
Bordeaux Bègles have confirmed the full extent of Rohan Janse van Rensburg’s injury.
The one-cap Springbok centre limped off barely a minute after coming off the bench in the 50th minute of Bordeaux’s 64-14 dismantling of the Leicester Tigers in their Investec Champions Cup last-16 clash.
The 31-year-old was in clear distress as he was assisted from the field and was later seen leaving the stadium on crutches.
In a statement, Bordeaux confirmed: “Rohan Janse van Rensburg’s season has come to a premature end due to a ruptured achilles tendon sustained when he came on as a substitute against the Leicester Tigers last Sunday.
“Rohan will have participated in 19 matches during this 2025-26 season,” the club added. “We wish him a speedy recovery and a successful rehabilitation!”

Who is the giant SA rugby schoolboy making headlines?
When it comes to world rugby, Springbok star RG Snyman is one of the tallest and most physically imposing players in the game, and yet there is a South African schoolboy rugby player who quite literally measures up.
Pictures have recently done the rounds showing Rondebosch Boys’ High lock Sebastian Vermeulen pictured alongside Snyman, and almost making him look small.
Vermeulen weighs 140kg and stands 2.06m tall, and he understandably caught the attention of supporters at the Pretoria Boys’ High 125th Anniversary Easter Rugby Festival over the weekend.
The 18-year-old is said to be able to bench press 120kg, and can squat 180kgs.
