University of North Carolina reportedly intends to hire former NBA champion Mike Malone as its next men's basketball head coach, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel.

Malone, who led the Denver Nuggets to the NBA Championship in 2022-23, has amassed 510 wins as an NBA head coach. The hiring is expected to be finalized soon, though official announcements are still pending.
