Byström Steps Down as Swedish Ski Coach

Anders Byström has resigned as Swedish cross-country national team coach after six years, citing family reasons and Olympic dissatisfaction.

Anders Byström has stepped down as Swedish cross-country national team coach after six years in the position. In a statement, Byström mentioned it has been difficult being away from his family and that he decided it was best to step aside for someone else to build a team toward the 2030 Olympics.

The resignation comes after the Olympics where Sweden performed poorly. On the women's side, only two Swedish athletes started the final 50km race after several, including Linn Svahn, were sent home early. Byström later admitted this was a mistake. Ski federation head Lars Öberg acknowledged the team's progress under Byström's leadership and thanked him for his contributions.
