Brewers Replay Saves First Base Call by Bucknor

During a Brewers game on March 31, a replay review overturned umpire C.B. Bucknor’s ruling that Jake Bauers missed first base, confirming the batter reached safely.

In the sixth inning of a Brewers game at American Family Field, umpire C.B. Bucknor ruled first baseman Jake Bauers missed first base, calling him out. Brewers manager Pat Murphy requested a replay review, which showed Bauers’ foot on the base’s center, overturning the call and allowing the run.

Bucknor, 63, has umpired since 1996 and has recently been involved in the new home‑plate challenge system, which overturned several of his calls in a March 28 game. He has been one of the league’s longest‑tenured umpires.
