MacKinnon Becomes First NHL Player of 2024-25 to Reach 50 Goals

Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche became the first NHL player this season to reach 50 goals, scoring a liner against Vancouver early in the first period. It marks his second 50‑goal season and joins the franchise’s elite club of multiple 50‑goal players.

MacKinnon’s 50th goal of the season came with a liner from up top that beat Vancouver goaltender Kevin Lankinen early in the first period. He celebrated by sliding on his right knee while pumping his right glove, a moment that underscored his flair on the ice.

The milestone is MacKinnon’s second 50‑goal campaign and makes him the third player in Colorado/Quebec history to achieve multiple 50‑goal seasons, joining Hall of Famers Joe Sakic and Michel Goulet. He also ties Nikita Kucherov for second in league points with 121, just four behind leader Connor McDavid.
