Pantaloni Confirms Lorient Exit Over Distrust

FC Lorient head coach Olivier Pantaloni has confirmed he will not extend his contract in June, citing distrust from club executives despite leading the team to Ligue 2 title and strong Ligue 1 form.

Despite a remarkable record including a Ligue 2 title in 2025 and strong current Ligue 1 campaign, Pantaloni has rejected the club's contract renewal offer. The 59-year-old coach expressed disappointment that management included a termination clause in the new contract despite the team's 12-game unbeaten streak and ninth-place standing. 'There's a lot of disappointment,' Pantaloni told Ouest-France. 'I had two wonderful years here. I think I had excellent relationships with everyone involved with the club. It's a shame it's come to this. But I still feel that distrust, and that's why I refuse to work in those conditions.' Lorient will face Lyon away on Sunday as they continue their Ligue 1 season.
