Warburton Surprises with WBA Continental Title Win

Gerome Warburton defeated former British champion Nathan Heaney to win the WBA Continental Middleweight title, ranking 11th in the world and hinting at a future world title shot.

Warburton, 30, beat Heaney by unanimous decision at Manchester's Co-Op Live Arena, earning the WBA Continental belt and a world ranking of 11th. He said the win feels “surreal” and that a world title is “madness” but possible. The victory, his first major title, was dedicated to his son Roman, who celebrated the win with him. Warburton’s 17‑4 record now includes a Welsh title and a recent loss to Kieron Conway for the vacant British title. He credits hard work over natural talent for his success.
