It has been a difficult season for Ronald Araujo, whose early-season mishap against Chelsea led to immense criticism, prompting him to take a mental health leave.
During the time he was away, the defender received ample support from the club and teammates. Even Real Madrid player Vinicius Jr. was there to support the defender.
But a critical part of his journey was teammate Ferran Torres.
The Uruguayan defender recently opened up about a challenging two-month period where he stepped away from competition to focus on a complicated mental health process.
Ferran Torres’ Heartwarming Gesture
While the squad closed ranks to protect Araujo, Diario SPORT reports that Ferran Torres went a step further to show his personal support.
On the very same day that Araujo had met with the club to request his hiatus, the player from Foios made a special trip to the defender’s home.

Aware of the difficult days Araujo and his family were facing, Torres visited expressly to offer his sensitivity and the collective support of the dressing room.
This great detail highlights the profound bond within the squad. Araujo eventually embarked on a spiritual journey to Israel to work with specialists.
But the foundation for his recovery was built on the leadership he showed, having organised a team barbecue just before his break, and the brotherhood was returned by teammates like Ferran.
Araujo has since returned to the Barcelona fold, though he appears to have fallen behind Pau Cubarsi, Eric Garcia and even Gerard Martin in the pecking order.
It will be interesting to see if the Uruguayan international can step up his performances as we enter the final phase of the campaign.
